One frame today, a very short moment in time captured, if you blinked I guess you could walk past and not notice.  Mercury  however, is always on the look out. This love of the 'photo journalistic' or in plain terms, the modern storyteller approach,  is thanks to influences such as street B&W photographers like Willy Ronis and  Andre Kertesz.

Stop, and take time to look around you. A picture should be able to tell you a thousand words. Light, patterns, shapes, emotion and design. That is only just a start.

Sebastian and Olivia

When Master Three and his and his beautiful big sister came into the studio for a visit, it was not a shy affair. Sebastian liked the camera, he liked it a lot, and Miss Olivia had even convinced her Mum to get her nails painted for the occasion!  A lot of fun, and many toothy laughs. Print Restaurant

Its a tough gig some days. But let me tell you when you head out for a hard days work and they bring out food like THIS!!! its not such a bad day in the office. 

Melbournes brand new Print Restaurant is just the right mix from Malaysia to  Hong Kong with Tapas and duck to die for.  

A shout out to all the guys who looked after me on the day, a big thumbs up. Particularly loved the open space and how you could watch the chef at work, and the cool counter made of old books.. and OK the duck wasn't bad either. It was AWESOME

Lydia & Bens wedding Nagambie

Lydia and Ben married at the gorgeous Nagambie Lakes Receptions (Kirwans Bridge Winery)
 just outside of Seymour / Nagambie on a glorious autumn day. Lydia, as you may recall from this earlier post http://megagraphicsblog.blogspot.com.au is a special part of  my life .  At this wedding  I was a guest as well as the official photographer, perhaps it was a natural choice for someone who works as a graphic designer for a photographer, however the honour was definitely all mine. Capturing this day, with all the emotion and love that Ben and Lydia obviously  had for one another, not to mention all the special little details that Lydia had made for this day. A very special day in two peoples lives.

Here is a little story I am really excited to share. First thing it’s a story of  a young girl by the name of Lydia who I was lucky enough to meet when she was just starting out, just a young girl looking for a career. We took on that young girl and needless to say she is of course now part of the  Megagraphics family as head honcho Graphic Designer, and the one who keeps me from going quietly insane here in the office. So, of course when Lydia announced her engagement to Ben, and gave me the honour of asking me to be her wedding photographer it was off to work we go, and no bars hold.

Meanwhile back in the lab...  I have had a little fire burning inside me for some time. Yes, I’ve been photographing weddings and families and businesses for quite a while, and I‘ve seen many changes in the industry, like Hello Mr Darkroom, meet Mr Digital.. things keep evolving. Video of course has been around for a long time, you know the type. Grab your JVC recorder and make a home movie, hey pretty cool or what? Hang on a minute, things are changing again. Yes we can all make a home movie, but now thanks to the amazing equipment and camera bodies we have we can make cinematography. Take the art of photography and make moving pictures with it, or just like with Lydia and Ben, capture a small snippet of a moment in time.

So to cut a long story short , I have been a busy bee learning this new craft, making something that is beautiful, not just a home movie. I am so excited at the possibilities the moving picture can bring.

its raining again

Digging through the archives and I came across this next lot of images from a few years ago. It was during the drought and I was in Queensland and happened to visiting good friend Wilko when the heavens opened.
Nothing too out of the ordinary apart from the fact that at the time, Wilko's kids had never seen the rain before, it was during a long stretch of drought, and as you can imagine it was 'game on'.

Of course big kid Mercury had to get amongst this action. Just love that kids can do that to you. 'come on Dad, so what there are rocks in this mud'  its all just good old fashioned fun.

Monty the dog

A lot of people ask me about my dog. I know I've taken many photographs of other people's dogs, and plenty of dog-lovers come through the studio doors, and I keep getting asked that same question.
So this blog post is dedicated to one special dude...
Meet Monty the dog. Monty is the youngest member of the Megaloudis household and with that, my daughter Emily and I ditched our normal Thursday afternoon to hit the beach, and show Monty what it was all about, after all you're only young once.
